"The long road with alcohol"

About: Lives Lived Well – Nowra (Nana Muru)

(as a service user),

I started drinking to repress childhood trauma memories and my drinking increased as I tried to dull the memories and feelings.

My drinking got progressively worse as I tried to pursue justice and after all the legal issues were finished, drinking became my normal crutch that I relied on to get through my normal day.

Due to having three beautiful children and a beautiful wife along with a few serious health scares I decided to change my life.

Thanks to the advice of my lovely GP, I was referred to the caring team at Nana Muru Lives Lived Well in Nowra, who helped to guide me in the right direction towards a better life. I undertook a home detox and will be participating in the Relapse Prevention group both through Nana Muru.

The only other thing I will add is about wonderful encouragement and understanding I received from both my case workers Mel and Deb who made me want to succeed and be a better person.

Dear the determined one,

Wow - what a great story. Thank you for sharing it with us. It is always so good to hear such positive feedback about our services, but more importantly to hear how people are changing their lives through their own determination and drive. You should be very proud of yourself.

At Lives Lived Well we believe that 'with the right tools people can change' and you seem to be on the right track. With caring and supportive case workers, and programs such as Relapse Prevention to help you, I trust your journey of abstinence will be successful.

Always reach out if you need additional support - 1300 727 957.

All the best for a better life for you and your family.

Regards,
