"Renal transplant"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Renal Transplant Unit

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I got called to come to Randwick for a transplant and the staff were amazing. Everything didn't go very well for me though -there was a few bumps along the road but the whole team doctors, surgeons and nurses were on to it. If there was a problem they were there. I was in hospital for a long time but in my experience, they always included you when they came to my room.

They knew how to build confidence in you with all the new medications but they also knew how to take time to check on you. It was very holistic. all the staff- cleaners, tea ladies, everyone was amazing, good for a laugh, hardworking people. I even remember one of the cleaning ladies went looking for the bed triangle so I could pull myself up from the bed- nothing was too small.

Even the handover between Prince of Wales and my doctor now in Wollongong has been seamless, good communication between them.

I still can't believe that I got a transplant it was like a dream.
