"Country treatment"

About: Dalwallinu Health Service

(as a relative),

My spouse got very sick recently after eating tea with chest and upper abdo pain, we were in the bush and they were vomiting as well. By the following morning my spouse couldn’t sleep or put up with the pain any longer and consented for me to get us and the van out of the bush and some help. I called health direct for advice, they were very helpful and 000 was contacted, because of the distance the ambulance had to travel we headed toward Dalwallinu hospital, the phone calls from ambulance personal in Perth was amazing and encouraging, trip was slow because road was rough, we got to nearby town a few hours later, my spouse needed to stop, the pain was worse, 5 mins later I saw the ambulance from Miling coming.

They were wonderful and reassuring, transferred my spouse to ambulance and to Dalwallinu hospital.

My spouse was attended by 2 nurses over the next 4 hours, ecg, pain meds, blood tests, obs etc, had teleconference with doctor.

Dear papacx37,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. I was pleased to read that the ambulance crew were so reassuring and your spouse was able to access the required care from Dalwallinu hospital utilising our Emergency Telehealth Service.

I will have pleasure in providing feedback to all staff involved and pass on your thanks to the St John Ambulance volunteers who do a wonderful job looking after patients and supporting our health services.

Best wishes

Trenton
