On the morning of the day we were flying out to London, I woke with strange and disturbing black when like objects in my right eye. Of course I searched the Internet. The indications were that they were ‘floaters’, which can be a normal kind of shearing issue with eyes but it could also be a retinol tear; so I decided to go to the Sydney Eye Hospital so that I could check before undertaking the long flight.
The greeting lady, Diana was very nice and reassuring, then Val, the triage nurse was also delightful and had loads of info for me. I waited an hour, all the while listening as Diana handled the constant stream of people as they entered, always respectful and kind. I thought that her job could be very monotonous and irritating and that she did not allow it to phase her.
The Dr was very very thorough and reassured me that it was a normal age related issue with my Eye and that it was B ok to fly. He explained that there was a chance of tear, that if that did happen it would be apparent and to take myself to a hospital in London; he kindly provided a detailed letter for me to give them.
Thank you to Sydney Eye Hospital, I’ll travel reassured.
