I attended RPH Ward 4F recently for an Angiogram. Finding the ward was a bit of a challenge for me but asking staff helped guide the way. I was one of four patients undergoing the same procedure.
From the outset, each step was explained clearly removing anxiety and calming the nerves. There appeared to be no shortage of staff, the environment was orderly as I progressed from preparation to theatre. Staff were helpful, friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. I had no "what happens now?" moments. Back in the prep/recovery room I was given sandwiches and a cuppa and a time frame of expected discharge.
The entire process was a positive experience. It would be remiss of me not to mention the nurse in the prep and recovery room, I think her name was Debbie? She was extremely efficient, courteous and obviously experienced with her routine. She did everything quickly, almost mechanical but allowed a pleasant personality to make the event as comfortable as possible. Thanks to all the engaged staff on the day, it's thumbs up from me.
