"Experiences at Royal Hospital for Women Randwick"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Acute Care Ward Royal Hospital for Women / Macquarie Ward

(as the patient),

I was admitted recently to Royal Hospital for Women at Randwick NSW for a full hysterectomy and bowel resection resulting from ovarian cancer. There were complications arising from this operation, and as a result I remained in the Acute Care ward and then the Macquarie ward for a total of about three weeks.

Although this was at times frightening I always felt that I was in the best possible hands. The competence, care, and compassion of all the staff in these wards was outstanding. These people treated me as a person as well as a patient - they listened to, and as appropriate, attended to my concerns. One effect of that close personal care is that I will always remeber their names. I am truly grateful for their professionalism, their devotion, and their thoroughness.

Dear romeojm95,

Thank you so much for taking time, especially after your recent major surgery to post your kind feedback regarding your experience with The Royal Hospital for Women.

Sometimes it is necessary to have to stay a little longer than expected in hospital following major surgery to continue your care until you have recovered well enough to return home. I am very sorry that you needed to stay for about three weeks and this was at times frightening for you but I am very glad that you felt that you were in the best possible hands.

Our Gynaecology Oncology Team and Macquarie Ward and Acute Care Ward staff are highly specialised and experienced and they are all very committed to providing the best care possible for their patients and families. It is very good to hear that you felt so well looked after and experienced compassionate and person-centred care which is so important in making a positive difference and we believe every patient deserves this high quality of care.

Your positive feedback is really valuable as we are always looking to ensure we provide the best possible patient care and experience.

Your post will be shared with the Macquarie and Acute Care Ward teams who I know will really appreciate your lovely feedback.

I wish you all the very best and continued recovery.

Kind regards,

Maria
