I attended the Sydney Hospital/Hand Clinic following a GP referral for a minor finger injury. I arrived fully prepared for a long wait and grumpy staff as this is what all my prior visits to the emergency department have been like.
I was pleasantly surprised to have been seen to pretty quickly but also had a very pleasant experience with every staff member I interacted with. Georgia specifically was amazing. I was sitting in the room for probably a little under 2 hours and watched as she was attending to multiple beds, training two nurses, teaching two nurse students all to the highest standard.
In this time, the staff dealt with a few high incidents - getting a call in for security help with an arriving ambulance and a drunk teenager whose family was very upset. All whilst carrying themselves with the highest professionalism and seemingly making all their patients feel completely comfortable and cared for.
Thankfully my issue was minor, but seeing the operation of the emergency department made me feel completely comfortable that if I were to attend to this hospital with any major issue I would truly be in the best hands. Thank you all for all the wonderful work you do.
