"Waiting time for UTI treatment"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my child to the hospital recently they were in a bad way with UTI. We got there in the late evening and it was really busy. We finally left ED with a prescription for antibiotics early in the morning. Having been there from late the night before I felt this was too long for something that required a script and I believe needn’t have taken all night as my child was very uncomfortable.

Dear blackbirdey34,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your child’s recent presentation to St George Hospital Emergency Department (ED).

I acknowledge the reasons that prompted you to post and I am sorry to hear you waited a long time to have your child seen and discharged home.

Our Emergency Department can be exceptionally busy at times which unfortunately can impact a patient’s experience. I apologise for any distress this may have caused you and your family.

I have forwarded your feedback to the Nurse Manager and Head of Department in the ED with the aim of improving the quality of service we provide to our community.

Once again, thank you for providing your feedback to us. I wish you and your family all the very best.

Kind Regards,

Ange Karooz

General Manager
