"Palliative care patient"

About: Boddington Health Service

(as a relative),

My parent was admitted to the Boddington hospital as a palliative patient as we were struggling at home to take care of them Once my parent was admitted we found we were providing most of their care still, as the nurses were making us feel as though they did not want to provide care for them. I recall on one particular shift I overheard the nurses discussing my parent in poor form with one of the nurses saying we should just take them home. You can imagine this wasn’t pleasant to hear at such a vulnerable time as we lost our parent a few days later.

Dear UserBod,

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your parent. Supporting a parent through their end-of-life journey can be an extremely challenging time for the family and I sincerely apologise you did not receive the care and support you needed during this time.

I was very concerned to read about your experience with the Boddington Health Service during this sad time for you and your family. When you feel comfortable to do so, I would value the opportunity to speak to you. It is important I learn more about your recent experience with our Palliative Care Service; to ensure we can better address the needs of patients and their families in the future.

I am the Operations Manager and responsible for Boddington Hospital. I can be contacted on (08) 9881 0413. Or if you prefer to speak to the Palliative Care Manager, you may wish to contact Florence Humair, on (08) 9690 1686.

Kind Regards

Jenny Menasse
