My child was transferred via RFDS from outside of Perth to PCH for acute mental health care. They were given a Ketamine infusion for the 3 hour flight and was unconscious on arrival and taken into resus. When ambulance asked the senior nurse how to transfer my child across to resus bed I recall their response was, I don't care...just chuck them across. I quickly interjected and explained that they were my child and you weren't going to "chuck" them anywhere. I felt the nurse's response was overtly sarcastic seemingly mimicking me. They spent the rest of the hours we spent in resus looking at the presentation list and complaining that they were scheduled to finish at a certain time but won't get out until 6 hours later. I spent the entire time attending to my child vomiting. They also used sternal rubs that left bruises. Absolutely disgusting in my opinion. I felt their behaviour changed after they found out I work in health care. If this is how you treat lay people then there's no hope.
