"Level of general care"

About: Nepean Hospital

(as a relative),

My grandparent was an inpatient for the management of a fracture. The main issue arises from the general lack of care. I believe the ward is horrendously understaffed. It seems the nurses don't have time for basic nursing care- which I feel is proving detrimental and negatively affecting my grandparent's care. We can not find thickened fluids on the ward, only to be told to speak to the dietician. Recently after a ward transfer we enquiried about getting fluids for my grandparent only for the nurse to ask us how long my grandparent has been there. Obviously, this is not something you want to hear, particularly when I was made aware my grandparent was on the ward for 2 hours and no one had been in to see them and give them a drink. Yes the nurses attitudes were not amazing, but I believe this is due to the fact that you simply did not have enough on duty to provide the care required. Please address this as a public hospital before there are worse outcomes.
