"Midwifery Group Practice and Maternity Ward"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We started the MGP program with our midwife team of Maddy and Milly at 24 weeks pregnant with our first child. From the very first meeting, I found the team was exceptionally knowledgeable, caring and informative. At no point did I feel confused or unsure about anything as Maddy and Milly were able to outline everything I needed well before I needed it.

As I progressed through the pregnancy, Maddy and Milly were available through call or text regardless of the time of day or night and I felt confident that when new things happened, I could get in contact with them easily and in an environment without judgement. I cannot speak highly enough of the team that I had and the MGP in general.

Late in my pregnancy a scan showed that my child was IUGR and induction would be required in seven days. The doctors and midwives within the MFAU did a good job explaining things to me and helped me understand what was occurring in my pregnancy while Maddy was able to provide more clarity and talk me through what to expect and generate a basic birth plan in our last appointment.

While my pregnancy ended in an unplanned Caesarian section, Milly was there to reassure me and helped myself and my partner understand the reasons and calm me as things happened so quickly. Following the birth of my son, I was required to stay for 48 hours on the ward at the hospital and the midwives there were amazing, in particular I found Tyler (sorry I don’t know her last name but I was on Ward 3), who was there on my first two nights and was so supportive and caring and helped me adjust to having a newborn as well as recovering from the C-Section.

Once I was at home, Maddy and Milly touched base with me everyday until discharge from MGP and answered a lot of the questions I had, along with providing me the resources to research and gain a better understanding myself. At the time of writing this I am now several days post-birth and want to thank all of the staff at King Edward Memorial Hospital and in particular the MGP who have cared for me and my son over the last several months.

I wish that every mum whether they are a new mum or not was able to have the same care that I was able to have in this pregnancy as MGP truely has made a huge difference in my experience.

Dear severityyx88,

Congratulations to you on the birth of your son and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the Midwifery Group Practice and Maternity Ward 3 at KEMH. I am pleased that you experienced such a positive pregnancy journey with the support of Maddy and Milly from MGP and postnatal care from Tyler on Ward 3. We are incredibly proud of the maternity care provided by our staff, particularly when birthing plans are changed unexpectedly, such as it was in your case. I will ensure your comments are passed on to Maddy, Milly and Tyler.

Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Yours sincerely

Barb Lourey
