Took my mum into ED at Busselton with back pain that had progressively worsened over the past few days. Was pretty worried as I’ve never seen her in so much pain. She was pretty much unable to walk and was involuntarily yelling out from the spasm pain, which is completely out of character.
The triage nurses were so empathetic and lovely (and were really effectively managing a very busy ED). I didn’t catch the name of the doc who treated mum but he was amazing. While I was initially skeptical that he was being dismissive sending us away with some pain killers and no scans, he took the time to explain why and was kind and reassuring. All staff involved in my mum's care including the triage nurses and ED clerk were under the pump, the place was heaving and yet every single staff member I dealt with was exceptionally professional, patient and kind.
Didn’t get to thank the doctor properly for the time and care he took with mum, and for not telling me to get back in my box when I suggested scans might be a good idea :-) massive thanks to the ED team at Busselton, you guys should be really proud of the service you deliver.
