"Medication change"

About: Armadale Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

I have bipolar, I started seeing the meads centre outpatient to change medications in preparation to have a child. I went in with a very positive mind set and was feeling very mentally well and just needed them change as my old medication was not safe for pregnancy.

I started seeing them at the end of last year when they accepted my self referral as my private referrals were not taking patients or had a 3-6 month wait. I got put on new medication the following month with a month's wait to have a review of my new medication. I was to receive regular calls from my case worker in the meantime.

Fast forward to recently, I have not yet seen my doctor and have been on this medication for 3 months after 2 reschedules because the doctor wasn't available. With only 2 days notice of the change and rebooked with seemingly no regard for my full time job i have.

I've had side effects and have not been feeling like myself. I feel as if I've been put on medication and left to my own devices with no knowledge on if the way I feel is okay and if I'm going to feel better any time soon. I no longer feel that I could care for a child in my current state and have considered returning to my old medication so I can feel normal again. I understand the short staff but I cannot see how this should be allowed. If you were short staffed on doctors I would've just preferred to wait to see a private physiatrist so I could receive proper help.
