My child was bought to the hospital by ambulance late at night. They were X-rayed at around an hour later but then it took until around 4 hours to see a Dr. The staff were lovely and caring - they gave us a room to wait that enabled us to sleep - but I believe there was only one Dr covering the entire ward which seemed very inadequate. This isn’t only stressful and upsetting for patients and families but I feel creates another layer of stress for staff already dealing with high a high anxiety and complex workplace.
Last time I bought my child the emergency we waiting 4hrs and then left out of frustration. I would have done the same last night except they required an operation to address the reason they came in. There were other people waiting with us in the waiting room who, as I understand it, had been kept waiting 5hrs. Crazy in my opinion.
