"Brilliant care in MAFAU"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Antenatal Clinic, Birth Suite, Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, Wards 3B, 3C, 3D, 3DO, Visiting Midwife Service

(as the patient),

I am so grateful to the MAFAU midwives and Medical Imaging team at FSH for the excellent care I received recently. I had a significant fall late in the afternoon when I was 25 weeks pregnant. I rang and after a thorough phone assessment, was asked to attend Medical Imaging as soon as I got to FSH, so that I would be able to have an ultrasound before the in-hours team closed. This prioritisation meant that I was assessed and reassured that my baby was fine very quickly.

I was incredibly grateful to the sonographer who waited back to perform the ultrasound for me. She was so kind and compassionate when performing the scan at the end of her shift and reassured me that I’d made the right decision to come in and be seen.

The midwives and obstetrician I saw in MAFAU after my scan were also amazing. They processed me quickly whilst also taking the time to explain my results and further tests required. They quickly reassured me that my baby was okay, explained what to look out for over the coming days and then reassured me that I should call MAFAU at any time if I became unsure about baby’s movements or health.

As a busy mum I was grateful to be processed quickly and efficiently, whilst also feeling informed and reassured that my baby was safe after such a significant fall.

Dear sambafj93,

I am sorry to hear about your fall – that must have been very scary for you. I was absolutely delighted to read of the care you received and am glad that you were able to be provided with reassurance that baby is ok so quickly.

The gratitude you felt is very clearly articulated, and I will definitely pass on your kind words to the teams involved. I wish you all the very best with the remainder of your pregnancy and welcoming your newest member of your family into the world.

Warm regards,

Neil Doverty

Executive Director
