"Negative experience due to a lack of planning and organisation"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic

(as a carer),

Despite having 3 consecutive appointments scheduled, the wait time to see the doctors on each occasion was more than 1.5 hours. I felt there was no concern for me and my parent. I work full time and it seemed there was no empathy given to the time taken off work and the implications this lack of planning has on my leave and financial situation. The 1 hour appointment here easily turns into a whole day wait and appointment. I feel this is not good enough.

Also there is one lift to service the entire hospital. I believe this is a hazard. How does the hospital staff expect to give proper service to patients with one workable lift for day patients and emergency patients.

Not impressed and I expect this to be addressed.

Dear Just a regular carer,

I am sorry to hear about your poor experience at Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, particularly during the lengthy wait times you and your parent experienced.

We are working on efficient ways of delivering the service and will forward your valuable feedback to the Outpatient Hand Clinic team.

I recognise that currently, only one lift is operational. Our Engineering Department is working on the faulty lift. Once addressed, this should improve our service to patients, families and visitors who are coming in. I understand there may be delays in using the single lift, particularly during peak hours.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion.

You could contact us at SESLHD-SSEHExecutiveServices@health.nsw.gov.au, if you want to discuss your experience further.

Regards,

Jonathan Magill
