"My grandchild's head wound"

My adult child, young grandchild and myself attended Bright Hospital urgent care as my grandchild had cut their head, they had a gash on their eyebrow which was slightly open but had stopped bleeding, this was around night time. I was grateful for the care being given by 2 nurses and assumed they knew what they were doing for this simple procedure of glueing the cut back together as it did not require stitches thank goodness! The nurse cleaned the wound gently, then put a very thin slice of tape over the wound to hold it together yet the wound was not closed it was a quarter of an inch open, they then put glue in the wound, which I found strange but assumed they knew what they were doing. The same nurse then put a small bandage over the wound.

About 3 days later, my adult child removed the small bandage and thought it didn't look right so I took my grandchild to another hospital to be told that I was correct and the nurse had done everything wrong, the should have closed the wound, then glued on top of the wound to seal it closed, not in the wound, then put the tape over the top of the glued would help hold it closed. Now we have to wait 6 months for the wound to heal completely then get a referral from a GP to attend the Scar clinic at the other hospital to see how the wound can be fixed. I am so disappointed at the nurse at Bright Hospital who I believe totally stuffed up this simple procedure which I feel will affect my beautiful grandchild’s face and cause them to possibly require surgery to correct. I'm sure the same would have happened to other children as little children have accidents like these all the time. Based on my experience, please train your staff correctly and ensure they can perform seemingly simple procedures like these as, in my opinion, it makes country hospitals look totally stupid.
