"Cannabis detox"

About: Lives Lived Well – Nowra (Nana Muru)

(as a service user),

My decision to address my use of Cannabis came about after I was kicked out of home when the pipe I smoked with was found and my boss noticed I was looking down and we talked about what happened and my regular use of Cannabis.

While my boss was understanding they also told me I needed to quit or I would lose my job as it wasn't safe and that I could be drug tested- my job is important to me and if I Iost my job, I would flip out!

I spoke with my GP who referred me to Nana Muru to assist me with detoxing.

To begin with it was a struggle managing the detox and on the first weekend I went off to stay with a relative and for the first time I refused a cone when offered. Feeling really down I thrashed my car a bit in the bush!

As the detox progressed I was starting to feel a bit better, physically feeling better and family were saying I looked healthier, although my mental health is still not feeling good.

I have found Nana Muru to be really helpful and encouraging, I felt I was treated as a person not a kid.

Based on my experience, I would recommend what I have done to other people and I believe I couldn't have done it without Nana Muru's support.

Hi Mister Mullet, thank you for sharing about your experience. Reading about how you refused that cone and went thrashing the car, reminds me about how difficult the early days really are. That 'go to' cone that used to be the coping mechanism, no longer being what you want to choose. Learning the new coping skills is a great bunch of tools in life to use at times like these.

I am glad to hear that you have had a positive experience in the Nana Muru Program. Keep using those new found skills and always know that our team are here if you want to reach out to us for support. Keep focused, stay motivated, you are on the track to a new world of possibilities.

-Craig
