Started to develop a sore throat, I waited for just over a week to make sure it wasn't a viral infection.
Rocked up to ED to get checked out, since the minimal wait in Manjimup I recall is 6 weeks to see a doctor.
No doctor was available in ED, the nurse practitioner looked at me diagnosed it as viral and let me go.
A week later, I woke up with difficulty swallowing, restriction in the throat. Rocked up to ED again at night. No doctor was available to see me, the Registered Nurse had a look at my throat and diagnosed it as viral, recommended me to take panadol, nurofen and gargle Aspren and let me go.
I started to use a course of antibiotics from a family member, which gave me some relief for my restricted throat, but my tonsils were still swollen, and swallowing still hurt a fair bit even after the course was finished.
Was finally able to get into a doctor (in another town) who gave me another course of antibiotics, which began to help and then after a week I was able to get into a doctor in Manjimup who gave me the final course I needed to recover.
How can the hospital seemingly misdiagnose this? or not even take a swab of my tonsils just to be sure?
