About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I went into Bunbury Hospital at in the early hours of the morning after 5 days of bad back, side and rib pain. I went straight in the room with the triage nurse and thought what great service! In straight away! I explained all my pain and when it started, and explained the fact that I’ve been taking 2x Panadol and 2x nurofen together for 5 days now, and now its not helping. Doesn’t do anything for the pain at all.

So what does the nurse do? “Well here’s some Panadol” “it’s probably just a strained muscle or a pulled rib” and I felt pretty much just pushed me back out the door. Didn’t take my name, d.o.b, anything. So I got back to car, had a cry and a good think about it. Went back in and asked to see a doctor or someone that actually cares. So I felt the nurse huffs and puffs and they finally took my details. And with a nice big smile on their face told me it’s going to be a really long wait, (there was not actually 1 other person in the waiting room).

I got told to go sit around the corner, not in the proper waiting room, So 3/4 hours go by and I still hadn’t been called in, just decided to go home, I assume I wasn’t even on the list to be called in.

I felt it was disgusting service.

Dear Justtakesomepanadol

I was saddened to read about your recent experience at the Bunbury Emergency Department and would like to apologise for what sounds like a lack of compassion displayed by our staff. I would very much like to talk with you about your journey as your description does not reflect how our current processes should work and I would like to ensure this does not happen again.

If you feel comfortable making contact please reach out to the Regional Coordinator of Consumer Feedback on (08) 97536537 or via email swfeedback@health.wa.gov.au.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Amber Hargans
