"Staff making our experience a positive one"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Neonatology, Paediatrics & Ward 3A

(as a parent/guardian),

My son climbed out of a trolley at the supermarket and fell on his head. As I believe any mother would be, I was upset shocked and concerned if he was ok. After speaking on the phone with my husband, we took him immediately to A&E for Children at Fiona Stanley.

Upon entering we were greeted by a very lovely lady at the waiting area who took our details, then a clinical nurse then took further details and comforted myself given our situation as I was upset. The nurse and administrator at the front were both so lovely and friendly and keeping myself calm and my son was entertained and happy to be his social self.

We were then taken through to the wards shortly afterwards. We were seen by a Dr Hannah who was also very lovely, explaining the circumstances and running through the protocol to ensure our son was ok. We also were helped by the registered nurses and clinical nurses who were all so helpful and friendly. The tea lady was also lovely.

I’m not a fan of hospitals at all, but everyone we saw there played their part in ensuring we were all taken care of in every aspect and I just wanted to thank you all. From a first time Mums point of view and panic, I felt at ease in your care. Thanks for ensuring my son was ok too. Thank you to every single person who cared for us, helped us, bought us food, made us tea and just all in all made our experience a positive one. We really appreciate it! I think you are all wonderful :)

Dear avocetmd85,

Thank you for taking the time to share such heartfelt gratitude for the paediatric teams, both in the Emergency Department (ED) and on ward as it shows the level of dedication to the care, we strive to provide to all our patients. It can be a very scary time when something happens to your child. I am very pleased that the team provided you with the reassurance you needed and your son with the assessment and care to reinforce that reassurance.

We are very proud of the teams in the ED and on the paediatric wards, and please be assured I have shared your post with the Directors of those services, who I am sure will pass on to the teams you have mentioned.

I hope that your son has made a full recovery.

Warm regards,

Neil.
