About: St John of God Midland Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Patient in their 70's, category 4 fracture, left in emergency at SJoG Midland for around 6 days. Family had to bring food and toileting was in a pan. Had to have family wash with wipes. When finally at another hospital had a stroke and care was very good and lifesaving. Fracture repair scheduled shortly.

Hello decembernk45,

Thank you for bringing this important issue to our attention. It was extremely disappointing to learn of this elderly patient’s experience in our Emergency Department (ED).

We are nevertheless keen to complete a review this patient’s care and identify where improvements can be made to the patient journey for those patients awaiting transfer to a tertiary hospital for further care.

It is the “little things that matter” and it seems that we have not met the expected standard of care for this patient during their stay.

All feedback is treated seriously and we will complete a thorough review of this patients care, however we need some details such as name and date of birth to allow us to do so.

Please contact our Patient Experience Team on 9462 4901 or via MI.PatientExpereinceTeam@sjog.org.au

Kind regards

Janet Jones
