"Breast cancer"

About: Patient Assisted Travel Scheme - WACHS Pilbara Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

My story starts when we flew to Perth from Newman to watch a game of Footy, because of covid I hadnt had my mammagram. While there I came across the breast clinic van at the Home show. I had the test and walked away feeling good about myself that at last I had done it and would not have to worry now for a couple of years. How wrong!

About a week and a half later I got a ph call that I needed to go to Charlies to get another checkup. I did that a week later and breast cancer was detected. What a shock, I went through the motions but it hadnt sunk in. I had the operation, then went on to start a 12 month treatment, which I am half way through at the moment. I feel sometimes I am on the outside looking in.

Pats was great, the girls had empathy and compassion, I cannot fault them, I had no problem with booking airfares or accommodation at any time, they were a godsend especially not having to worry about that side of it. They booked us next door to Sir Charles, what a wonderful place. Everyone there was fantastic, and to supply a facility that caters for people in need. My treatment at Sir Charles was great, I feel the hospital is a wonderful place.
