Recently, I had my first child at Busselton Health Campus. The prenatal care was fantastic with every midwife I saw for appointments coming across as friendly and knowledgeable.
Re the birth: We found out afterwards that the maternity ward was exceptionally busy that day, but I never felt like we were rushed or overlooked. I had a student midwife with me during active labour who was incredible! Vanessa was supportive, empathetic, and happy to adapt as needed. She ensured I was aware of all of the options available, allowed me to guide the process and change my mind with no judgement.
Dr Heather ensured that I received all the care and information required post birth.
All of the hospital staff I dealt with were so kind during our stay, and I especially want to thank the midwives and doctors who made a point of checking in with me. Multiple people stated that birth trauma is not just physical and there is support if I had any concerns. I don’t have any trauma surrounding my birth but to hear multiple health professionals bring it up was reassuring.
Post hospital stay we have had home visits from midwives and child health. All of whom have been lovely and supportive!
I am very thankful to be home with my beautiful baby, and feel blessed knowing I have a team at the local hospital I can trust if either of us need anything.
