(as the patient),

I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD. I have used alcohol as a coping mechanism for many years (on and off) to manage my anxiety and depression related to complex PTSD. 

I voluntarily sought Lives Lived Well services to better understand my unhealthy coping mechanisms. 

I was assigned to a clinician - Vicky, from the Toowoomba branch. 

I have engaged in extensive therapy in the past, Vicky’s therapy was very therapeutic in the sense that it was visual, holistic and encompassed my needs to better understand and simplify my need to cope. I felt no shame. Only empowerment. This service, and Vicky’s individual approach to apply coping techniques, to keep me away from continuing to consume alcohol for unhealthy coping mechanisms has changed my entire life! 

She makes the hard stuff (which was so hard) seem easy to navigate. I love myself again.

I will be sure to pass this story link on to the team in Toowoomba they will no doubt be so happy to read this and that you are getting so much out of working with them.

I love this that you wrote: "I felt no shame. Only empowerment."

So powerful, and I hope this is something that you can carry forward with you. We can help to provide awareness of some new skills you can apply in your life, but its you who is doing the hard work and bringing about this amazing change that you sought out.
