"Birthing at Bunbury"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I gave birth via induction at Bunbury earlier in the year. I had a great experience during my birth and I would like to thank my midwife Stacey for facilitating such a beautiful birth for me. I would also like to make special mention to midwives Kris, Bonita & Ebony (just to name a few) who were extremely helpful in caring for myself and my baby while on the ward. Would be happy to birth at Bunbury again in the future ☺️. The only downsides to my experience were that my epidural took over 3 hours to arrive to me and then another 3 hours to start working which, as I understand it, is due to the anaesthetic team not the obstetric team. Based on my experience, I suggest that if you’re set on birthing with the epidural to request it early on in labour as it may take some time to get to you.

Dear indiakg99,

Thankyou for taking the time to share your birthing experience on Care Opinion. It is wonderful to read that we were able to support you to achieve a beautiful birth. I have forwarded your kind words onto the team, particularly those staff that you have mentioned. I know that they will be grateful and humbled for your recognition of their care.

I am sorry that the anaesthetic team were unable to provide you with a timely epidural. I am unable to speak in regards to the circumstances of the delay, however I have provided your feedback to the Anaesthetic department so they may be aware of your feedback and can reflect on possible processes that may reduce the wait time.

I wish you and your family well and thankyou again for your feedback.

Katrina
