"Child health care"

About: Carnarvon Community Health Service

(as a service user),

I have been calling the child health number for  about 10 days leaving my name and number as my child needs their immunisations! I have not once had any response. I have had to get in contact with the health campus to find out that is seems no one is monitoring the health care. I feel it would be nice if they did a recorded message to advise people that they are not there. In my opinion, it is very very poor service for the health of infants and toddlers who need immunisations. I feel it's very sad that we don’t have this service available as well as seemingly not having to be able to birth children in Carnarvon.

Dear Parent8264

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion.

I was concerned to read of the difficulties you’ve encountered trying to schedule your child’s immunisations. Immunisations play a crucial part in keeping our community safe and I thank you for being so proactive in seeking them for your child.

I would like to offer our apologies for the break in service and acknowledge that due to recent unplanned leave we have faced considerable challenges staffing and operating our Carnarvon clinics in the last few weeks. I am pleased to say we do now have a nurse onsite and if you contact us on 08 9956 1985 we shall endeavour to get your child an appointment promptly.

We are continually liaising with local healthcare providers in Carnarvon and hope that in the future they will be able to offer additional services in this space to the community.

I would also be happy to speak with you further if you wish to discuss your situation in more detail. My name is Karen Street, I am the Director Population Health and can be contacted on 08 9956 1965 or email Karen.Street@health.wa.gov.au.

Thank you again for reaching out to us and I hope we can have your child up to date with their immunisations very shortly.

Regards

Karen Street
