"Contact details for counselling"

About: Community Support Services (Bass Coast Health)

(as a service user),

I was receiving counselling through the Bass Coast Counselling Team. I had a triggering episode in the counselling session and I decided to stop as it was too much for me. I’ve said they can contact me any time but since then I have had no follow up from anyone. They have, however, sent me two letters to say that they are unable to contact me and have asked for me to contact them but they have my phone number, they have my address. At this point I don’t want to call them back or speak to them. It makes me feel like I'm at fault if they can’t contact me. I wanted to let them know so this doesn’t happen to someone else.

Dear melonzg68,

I am so sorry that you had this triggering experience. This would have been very uncomfortable and traumatic for you. I hope you are OK.

If our team are sending you letters, it will be because they haven't been able to make contact with you by phone. It is our usual protocol to follow people up by letter if we can't reach them by phone. You mustn't feel at fault. We are following our process, but it is absolutely your right not to make contact if you don't want to.

Also to say, I could arrange a different Counsellor, or would be happy to link you to different supports if you thought that might be helpful for you.
