"Responsive care"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My 7y.o. son was very unwell with influenza. ED nurse Sarah, and ED doctor S, provided very good care for him, ensuring our queries and needs were responded to as worried parents, and they took very good care of our son under the circumstances. Right now in WA, I believe there are more children being hospitalized with influenza than adults, and knowing this, the ED team made sure we were reassured and aware of the management plan. The orderly to Xray, the meal staff, all interacted with our son in a way that lifted his spirits.

Dear veladf37

Thank you for sharing your story with us on Care Opinion.

It was very pleasing to read how well Sarah and Dr S. provided your son and yourself with the compassionate and individual care we aim to provide. Being able to reassure a parent and keep them well informed is crucial, so they can support their child whilst they are in an unfamiliar and daunting environment. I will ensure they are both acknowledged for their great work along with the other staff and departments who supported so well.

I hope your son is on the road to recovery.

Kind Regards

Didi Bower
