"First time Mum, natural labour, CMP"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Community Midwifery Program King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I am beyond proud of myself, my body, my instinct, my son, my partner and of course, my CMP team who supported me in a truly life changing journey.

I first heard of the CMP through a friend when I was around 15 weeks pregnant. At this point I was petrified of birth and had already convinced myself that I would be having epidural. As my pregnancy progressed and I learnt more about the woman’s fascinating body, I decided I wanted minimal intervention, natural, vaginal, water birth. I met with Steph monthly who was my main point of contact who supported and gave me the confidence in a birth I could only imagine.

Our son decided he wanted to make his debut on a day that Steph was working, thank gosh, as it was so incredible to share this with her. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Dear augusthd47

Thank you for taking the time to share the story of your pregnancy and birth journey with the Community Midwifery Program (CMP) at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

It was so wonderful to read that, with the support of Steph and the CMP team, you had such an empowering experience, and that Steph was present for your birth. Your descriptions of feeling so supported and educated will mean so much to the team, who are so committed to providing safe, evidence-based continuity of care. I will ensure your lovely feedback is passed on to Steph and the CMP team.

Wishing you, your son, and your partner all the best.

Delaney
