It is true that the new ED does not have a specific Breast-Feeding room - usually patients or family members who are breastfeeding do so in their private cubicle. We do have a breastfeeding room in the old hospital but it has only just been relocated to that new space from a pre-existing space that was further away and we are still awaiting signage. I will make sure our staff in the new Hospital know where the new room is.

I am so sorry that you felt you had to breastfeed on a toilet floor - is would be highly unusual as we usually have vacant rooms including offices that we could normally take people through to for this purpose - having said that, it has been a particularly busy time over the past few weeks, and in particular the last few days, so that may have accounted for your experience. In response to your valuable feedback patients and visitors can now breastfeed or express breastmilk in two dedicated breastfeeding rooms at Wonthaggi Hospital.

A new dedicated space is now available in a Parents Room located straight off the waiting area in the new Emergency Department.

The new room and the recently relocated breastfeeding room in the old Hospital has been communicated to all staff and both rooms have a comfortable armchair, fridge and shelf.
