"A patient in medical ward"

About: Sale Hospital / Medical Service/Ward

(as a carer),

My client was admitted into Medical Ward and over the two weeks they had trouble with their evening meal

My client had a red tray and at night meals, I believe they just put the tray on table and walk away and as I understand it, don’t even let patient know it’s there for them, it seems the staff just walk out.

So for 2 weeks I believe my client hadn't eaten at night due to needing help to eat.

We did ask staff to help and we reminded them that we were leaving in the afternoon and they reassured us that someone would be with this client but I believe it didn't happen, one night my client got frustrated and kicked the table and their meal slipped off table.

And meals at lunch time were cold and especially on one occasion I recall they were given an empty ice cream container and what seemed to be a half eaten green jelly.

Dear authenticdt87

I am very sorry to hear of your client’s experience while admitted to our Medical Ward. It is troubling to hear that your client could not have received the extra support they required.

I would like the opportunity to investigate this further to prevent this happening again. If you and your client would feel comfortable, could you please email me Divyanshu.dua@cghs.com.au with some extra information so I can get this investigation started.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Dr Divyanshu Dua

Director Medical Services
