"Friend's sick spouse"

About: St George Hospital Sutherland Hospital

(as a friend),

My friend's spouse is sick and they want to go to Sutherland Hospital to see their spouse without the kids. Why isn't there a place to drop off the kids for either Sutherland or St George hospital? What can people do if they don't have family or friends in the country?

Thank you.

Dear lyrahw66,

I am sorry to hear of the difficult situation that your friend is experiencing and appreciate how difficult access to childcare is for families who are isolated or without immediate support.

Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that families have the best healing environment for recovery - and time to stay connected with family and friends.

We know each family is different, which is why your friend is encouraged to speak to the ward’s nursing team for more information or support from the Social Work Teams to discuss any special occasions or specific requirements for their family.

Best wishes,

Ange Karooz
