My son was born recently via csec, it was a very straightforward journey and he was a very healthy boy. During the procedure I had lost a litre of blood, which ended up making my initial start to breastfeeding a difficult one.
My milk took quite a while to come in, about a week, which made for a hungry baby! By day 4 I had cracked and blistered nipples, and I was in extreme pain each feed. Luckily I had a midwife on call. My usual midwife (Katie) was not available at the time so she referred me to Anita, who lived close by. Within minutes of contacting her, she had arranged to come over and help me. Anita arrived in my time of need and checked my sons latch and gave me some much needed advice in terms of breastfeeding. From that point on I had better knowledge of how to get my son to latch properly, and each day got better. I am so thankful to Anita for coming to help me, I was in so much pain and she comforted me and gave me the right advice to help my breastfeeding situation.
Aside from my breastfeeding journey, my usual assigned midwife (Katie at Margaret River hospital) has been amazing. I have truely loved the support and advice from my midwives, I don’t know what I would have done without them!
