"My accident"

About: Hospital in the Home (Bass Coast Health) Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

So recently I had a heavy fall at home bringing in fire wood. Ambos who were fantastic, took me to another hospital and after 5 hours sitting I had not been triaged and no pain relief.

I went to the doc the next day and after xrays found a fracture in the shoulder we went to Wonthaggi Hospital. We got there at in the evening and was back home by around 2 hours later. Very happy with everyone and all explanations.

Around a week later I developed cellulitis and after 2 courses of oral antibiotics my doc sent me off to hospital again. This time we met the absolutly awesome team at Hospital in the Home. I had an iv antibiotic drip attached and we went back everyday for 3 days to change the fluids.

These people made me feel safe, cared for, positive about the treatment and informed. I cannot recommend them enough. They also made my partner feel relief. Thankyou you ladies and gents are brilliant. Cheers attendantmk73

Dear attendantmk73,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your lovely feedback. I hope your shoulder and cellulitis are both healing well, and I hope after all of that, the fire was worth it.:)

Our HITH and ED teams will be really stoked to read your feedback so again, thank you. Of course, I am biased, I think they are wonderful teams, but I am also really proud that we have such skilled teams to provide you with what you need.

Take care of yourself, and as great as a wood fire is, remember that your safety is your priority. Falls can be life changing and we should do what we can to prevent them.

Kindest Regards,

Jan

Thanks Jan, I am banned from brining in the firewood now. And yes a fall can be life changing especially weeks later when you are still discovering injuries, however small. Cheers, attendantmk73
