"Compassionate understanding"

About: Fremantle Hospital and Health Service / Outpatients

Recently I attended my orthopaedic outpatient appointment at Fremantle hospital, only to discover that the appointment was for the day before.  I had misread the date on the text. Given it was 100% my fault I was expecting to be turned around and sent home (a couple of hours away). However I felt the admin clerk was wonderful and asked the ortho team to squeeze me in. The ortho nurse and Dr were both wonderful and saw me, completing the appointment and having me on my way home in just over an hour.

I am so very grateful that they took the time to see me, and given it was about 12noon when I arrived,  I suspect had a shorter lunchbreak. Thankyou, I really appreciated you going above and beyond.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience via Care Opinion. Honestly – your kind words have made my day. Working within the huge Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG), I am aware of the enormity of 1000+ beds plus the busiest Emergency Department in the state, as well as countless outpatient clinics. I am also aware that the FSFHG can appear as two big, overwhelming hospitals, especially to our community members who visit infrequently or who are visiting for this first time.

What our patients sometimes don’t see are the thousands of dedicated staff members who keep the FSFHG ticking along, with their dedication, kindness and compassion. I see these faces every day, but I am so glad that you were able to experience this kindness and compassion in your interaction as well.

Thank you again for sharing your experience – I will be sure to share with the teams involved and make sure they take some time to read your kind words of appreciation.
