My husband was booked into Orthopaedic surgery at Geraldton Regional Hospital for Hamstring Repair but he had AF and the operation was cancelled. We had to wait in Emergency for a long time to get him checked, before going home. Emergency was extremely busy and it seemed the staff were very much under pressure. Finally a very nice doctor, (I didn't catch his name) checked my husband again with ECG, bloods etc and gave us a referral for Echo/ Doppler.
The next morning, I contacted WA Cardiology and was given an appointment for that day at the hospital. I was impressed. I want to thank the sonographer and I only know him as Ali for his calm, professional manner and the fact he processed the report so quickly and forwarded to the well respected surgeon, Dr Aman, who then operated on my husband the next day, as he considered the surgery as urgent.
I want to thank the nurses at the regional day surgery as well.
Overall, I found the experience interesting and glad that Geraldton are lucky enough to have some very professional medical staff.
I know the reasons but I felt the amount of paperwork performed by the staff was unbelievably repetitive and time consuming. In fact, when you look at the staff, it seems they all, doctors nurses etc are all looking at screens and completing paperwork.
So, my husband is recuperating and had his wound checked at the very busy Fracture Clinic and seeing a Physio as well. Geraldton Regional Hospital is providing very good care.
