"Short term restorative care program"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Outpatient Services

(as a carer),

My Husband had had numerous hospital admissions after having sepsis in 2022. The nursing staff at Geraldton Hospital were amazing but he had a lot of falls after discharge, and more health issues. He was referred to the restorative care program and has not looked back since. These girls (Julia, Danica and Sally) were amazing and have been able to give my husband much more mobility and independence. They also picked up on issues we were not aware off. I can't praise this program and these girls enough.

This program also benefited me immensely. I was at my wits end in trying to aid and assist my husband. They gave me moral support, kind words and an amazing amount of compassion. This program has given us our lives back and allowed us to enjoy our days again. I was totally unaware of the support that is offered and felt overwhelmed and isolated, not knowing were to turn or what to do for both of us. I am still astonished by the amount of help and support that is offered to older people and am very very grateful.

Dear junes53

Thank you for your moving feedback, it is so very much appreciated.

It was wonderful to read of the positive impact that the restorative care program has had on your husband’s wellbeing and yours also. The care, compassion and support you describe from Julia, Danica and Sally are a testament to the dedication and commitment they have to our community. We shall seek a suitable way of acknowledging their excellent work.

I do hope your husband is continuing to recover and that you are also enjoying your days together with him, enjoying this great place we call home.

Kind regards

Didi Bower
