"My journey"

About: Lives Lived Well – Elouera Women’s Residential (Orange)

(as a service user),

I was on drugs for 10 yrs. I came to this program 3 yrs ago and really liked it. I was clean for 18 weeks and fell in a hole again and started using. Over the past yr and a half I landed myself in jail twice for drug supply and was lucky to win my appeal with an ICO and part of my condition was to complete the Elouera program.

So now I have completed my 6 weeks at Elouera. Based on my experience, it has been a big disappointment this time round. there were so many groups my first time I was here and learnt so much more the first time I was here. But as I keep telling myself it is what it is. And to be honest if I didn't have jail over my head I would have left.

But I am grateful for the staff here big thankyou to Kristy and Mel, Kimmy and Tracy. if it was not for them and my new friendships I have made I wouldn't have finished the program.

Thank you for sharing your journey, and your honesty about your experience with the Elouera program. It's clear that you've been through some challenges, and your commitment to turning your life around is commendable.

It's important to acknowledge that the path to recovery can be full of ups and downs. Eighteen weeks of sobriety is a significant achievement, and even though you faced setbacks, your determination to complete the program despite the challenges shows strength and resilience. Sometimes, the fear of legal consequences can be a motivator, but ultimately, it's your own dedication and the support you receive that make the difference.

Your candid feedback about the program is valuable. It's essential for programs like Elouera to continually evolve and improve to better meet the needs of individuals seeking recovery. It's disappointing to hear that your experience this time didn't live up to your expectations, especially in comparison to your earlier experience where you found more value in the groups and learning. Constructive feedback like yours can help program administrators make the necessary adjustments to provide better support and resources to future participants.

Your gratitude toward the staff, particularly Kristy, Mel, Kimmy, and Tracy, reflects the vital role that dedicated professionals play in the recovery process. The connections and friendships you've formed are significant, and such support networks can be crucial in maintaining your journey towards recovery.

As you move forward, it's important to remember that recovery is a process, and there might be setbacks along the way. Your willingness to seek help and stay committed, even in challenging circumstances, is a testament to your determination to overcome these. Continue to draw on the support of your new friends and the valuable guidance of the staff. I will communicate your feedback to Managers to take into account to better serve those in need of recovery in the future.

Keep moving forward, and remember that every day is a new opportunity for growth and progress. Your resilience is inspiring, and I wish you all the best on your ongoing journey to recovery.

Best Wishes,

Craig
