"Excellent care during a difficult time"

About: St George Hospital / Womens' & Childrens' Outpatient Clinic

(as the patient),

I attended the EPAS clinic recently. Cannot fault the staff I had interactions with, a great service to support early pregnancy concerns!

From a patient experience perspective, is there a spare clinic room that could be used for conversations with the EPAS nurse? I noticed some conversations were confronting to other women and a private space to hear any news I believe would improve this experience rather than being in a room full of strangers. I myself broke down when I felt I was loosing control over my next steps (not happening as quick as I would have liked - no fault of anyone’s though!) I don’t mind shedding a tear in front of others but a private space may make all feel more comfortable.

Thanks again for your care, compassion and professionalism.

Dear equuleushw36,

I wanted to express my gratitude for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent visit to our Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS).

It was heartening to learn that you had a positive experience at our clinic and that you found our staff and services to be of the high standard you described. We consider ourselves fortunate to have such dedicated and caring individuals as part of our EPAS team. Their commitment to providing the best care is what makes our clinic a welcoming and supportive environment for all our patients.

However, it was disheartening to hear that there may have been conversations that made you or other patients uncomfortable during your visit. Please accept my sincere apologies for any discomfort you may have experienced.

Your feedback is invaluable, and I have promptly forwarded it to the Divisional Director of Women & Children’s Health for further review and action. We are committed to addressing any issues and enhancing our practices to ensure they align with our core mission of patient-centred care.

Your willingness to share your experience is a vital contribution to our continuous improvement efforts. We greatly appreciate your input, which helps us provide better care to our patients and the community we serve.

Thank you once again for your feedback and for choosing our services. If you have any further comments or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly email to seslhd-stg-executivecorrespondence@health.nsw.gov.au.

Warm Regards,

Ange Karooz
General Manager
