"Visitor security"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as a relative),

My Grandchild was transferred from a metro hospital to Bunbury Maternity ward for further care as they still require medical and nursing intervention.

My adult child was advised that only one visitor was allowed and that a parent was also required to be present for safety and security reasons, of which I agree with and support as do the parents, however a family member arrived at the hospital recently and was allowed into the unit to see the baby without a parent present.

I feel it is even more concerning that this family member is not of sound mind and is a risk to the child. May I request that someone review this as it is a concern that the family member was allowed near the child without the consent of the parents and also without the parent present.

Dear funnynb64,

Thankyou for touching base so promptly after my response. I can confirm that I have spoken personally to the staff who were working on the dates you provided and I have reaffirmed with them the rules around visitors to the nursery.

I have also sent out an email to all staff in the department to ensure that everyone is aware of the policies and enforces them.

Once again, I am sorry that we have caused yourself and your daughter distress, and thankyou for bringing it to my attention.

Katrina
