"Care in Day Surgery"

About: Bright Hospital / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

I went into Bright Hospital for a colonoscopy & gastroscopy. I was taken in weighed and asked about various things relating to my procedure. When a bed became available I was then seen by the anaesthetist and surgeon who made me at ease before my procedure.

I came out of theatre where staff monitor me and after a short time helped me into a chair and has a cup of coffee and sandwiches. When I was ready the staff helped me dress and they went through what was found with the procedure and also gave me a copy of the surgeons report. They then made an appointment to see the surgeon 3 weeks later.

The next day they rang to see how I was and that I was not have any problems. All the staff made me feel safe and comfortable and I thank them.

hydrabs93, thank you for sharing the process that we have to undertake from admission to discharge within the day surgery unit; it helps others know what to expect.

It is reassuring to hear that the team made you feel safe and comfortable. I will pass your appreciation on to the team.

Kind regards,

Tanya Hart
