"Mental health"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was discharged and told that I could return at any time. I went back because I didn't feel well, and was told there was no one that could help me. I returned the following morning to ask to speak to a mental health specialist and they told me there wasn't anyone available and I should 'go do something' and wait for another team later that day. When a patient is in distress, I feel that sending them away is the last thing that should happen.

Absolutely atrocious treatment, in my opinion. I feel the ED nurses are not trained to deal with mental health issues and are seemingly dismissive. I feel it's dangerous.

Dear lionfe69,

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. I am really interested in what happened here as it is definitely not what I would expect for care of a patient presenting to our ED.

I am so sorry that you had this experience and request that you contact me either by phone or by email so that I can look into it further

Thank you.

Yours sincerely
