From my first appointment with my GP, through to a metropolitan hospital for core biopsy, and other early tests, to being told my diagnosis, aggressive grade 3, triple negative, cancer, I did not feel uninformed, I had all the support and care anyone could ask for.
My husband was with me throughout this whole process. PATS helped with our flights and accommodation. Much appreciated as we came from Karratha. While my team of specialists were deciding my best outcome as far as treatment was concerned, I did ask to have as much as possible in Karratha.
So I am now in Karratha oncology for the next 6 months having Chemotherapy, before my surgery. I have had 3 weeks of chemo, the last 2 I had reactions to, not once did I feel scared or frightened, the staff were amazing. I felt very safe. I think I would have gotten this in Perth, but to have the personal, caring support, that come with your home town feel, I have received here, by being at home in Karratha, I am surround by family and friends too. The Mcgarth nurse, comes to my home. I am so very grateful for all that is on offer through cancer council and Reach Us staff, I am feeling very grateful.
