"My son's visit to the ED and to Block D"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had a crush injury to his finger recently. We took him to ED at SCGH. He was triaged by Bridue who was fantastic and very happy to help us even though she was going home from a very long shift. The fast track team were fantastic and so warm and friendly. We had 2 options, to stay and wait overnight or to come back this morning.

We came back to Block d, but as he lives out of catchment, it looked like we might have to go to a different hospital instead. I was worried about another 24 hours delay and the Clinical Nurse Predita (hope that is correct?) was just an absolute angel to us. She made a call and got someone to come and see my son very promptly. I can only speak the highest about the entire team that helped us out. I have always admired SCGH as a healthcare service and this is my second visit in a few weeks. I hope that the staff who work there know just how much of a difference they make when our hour of need comes. So very thankful for all of them.

Dear Happy 60,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story about the great care and treatment your son received in the Emergency Department and in the Plastics clinic at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH).

It is always lovely to read such positive feedback and it gives me great pleasure to be able to share it with the staff involved, and in particular with Bridie and Pritika. I am so proud of our staff and delighted to hear that they went above and beyond to ensure they provided your son with such high quality, patient centred care.

We are very fortunate to have such extraordinary, caring, friendly and professional staff within our health service who are committed to providing patients with the best possible care and treatment.

I do hope that your son has made a good recovery.

Wishing you and your family all the very best for the holiday season.

Warm regards

Jodi Graham

Executive Director, SCGOPHCG
