"Antenatal, birth and post partum care"

About: Osborne Park Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

We were referred to the Osbourne park hospital in Perth for my pregnancy, birth and post natal care.

Having recently moved to Perth and without a support system it was really important for me to have a team involved in my pregnancy that I could rely on for support and consistency.

During our antenatal period we were added to a new program the hospital is running called Maps and we were allocated to midwife Erin for the rest of our antenatal and post natal care appointments.

From our first appointment with Erin she went above and beyond to ensure that we felt supported and had all of the information and knowledge to safely bring our little girl into the world and to keep her safe and well cared for in the early post partum days as we were figuring out how to be parents for the first time.

It was so incredible to have one contact person through out our journey and have someone that we could go to with questions rather then seeing a different midwife at each visit.

We had a million questions especially after the baby was born and Erin was amazing at answering them and supporting us in every way she could.

Not only did Erin do our antenatal and post natal appointments and visits but she also came to the hospital when our baby was born to ensure we were all okay and helped organise referrals we needed (lactation consultant) to help make the post natal process even smoother.

Our little family feels so lucky to have been put onto this maps program and to have been given the opportunity to have such a high level of care, support and professionalism in such a challenging time in our lives.

I truly feel that this program has helped us be the best parents we can be because we had such amazing support all the way through the pregnancy and post partum period.

We feel the entire team at Osbourne park hospital is amazing we felt so supported with our midwife Erin, the team at assessment unit/birth suite/maternity ward, the women’s health physio department and our lactation consultant Ange.

Erin referred us in the early days to have a review with the lactation consultant Ange who we had a visit with when our baby was 1 and 3 weeks old.

Ange made our breast feeding journey so much smoother her advice and support was next level and our little one is thriving.

Erin checked in and visited us during both of these appointments as well.

It honestly felt like one big supportive family.

We couldn’t be happier with our care at OPH and with the Maps program.

I genuinely hope that the maps program continues and we get to come back through it with our future babies.

Dear Happynewmumma,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby, and welcome to Perth.

As you’ve mentioned, our Maternity Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) program is currently being trialled at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH), and feedback like yours is so valuable to us. The fact that you would seek out care from OPH and the MAPS program again in future pregnancies is such lovely praise and will mean so much to the team.

I’m so pleased to hear about the wonderful support you received from Erin throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period, and that Ange was able to provide advice to help support you in establishing breastfeeding with your little one. At the Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS), we aim to provide excellence in healthcare for women, infants, and their families, and your feedback shows how well the team worked together to enable this for you. We’ll pass on your kind thanks to the team at assessment unit, birth suite, maternity ward, and the physiotherapy department, as well as to Erin and Ange.

Best wishes,

Delaney
