"Kindness in the Bass Coast ED"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Want to give a shout out to Mike, Nurse Scott and Dr Ari at BCH ED in Wonthaggi. They were fantastic with my ND school aged son who had split the back of his head open. I only needed to say he was ND and they immediately and instinctively knew how to support him and communicated with him respectfully, making sure he knew he was in charge of what they would or wouldn't do and explained every step before it was actioned.

Dr Ari even sang him a song... though when he asked if he should pursue his singing career or stick to being a Dr it was a clear doctor from the patient! And I agree, because I feel we need Drs like Dr Ari, so keep singing but don't give up your day job 🙂

Dear WCCrew,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback. This is one of my favourite posts. It not only talks to the wonderful individuals we have supporting our ED, but it tells a lovely story about how it is so important for us to understand and be responsive to an individual patient's needs. It sounds like the team did that well, and in the process, we may have launched a singing star:) I am sure there will be a few requests from Dr Ari's colleagues over the next few weeks for some further renditions, but we will do our best to keep him on track in his medical career. I hope your son is healing well. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback - it will be much appreciated by all!

Kind Regards, Jan
