I have had both my babies with the same midwife, my first in 2022 and just recently last month through MGP4.
Having the same midwife enabled me to have confidence in not only myself and my choices but also the care I was receiving. Giving new mothers confidence I believe is crucial to the success of mother and baby bonding which in turn affects so many things positively.
I had to stay 3 nights in hospital with my second baby and my midwife visited me, it was such a nice feeling of relief seeing a familiar face and someone who knew my story. My midwife advocated for me to medical teams and knew my wishes and history and also my abilities meaning I didn’t have unnecessary interventions.
Based on my experience I strongly recommend this model of care to people seeking a less medicalised birth.
