We had an emergency caesarean at St George Public hospital. Baby was sent to Nursery intensive care for his breathing as he was completely covered in meconium and had an elevated breathing rate. He was discharged and joined mummy at the end of his first night of life.
He started cluster feeding on his 2nd day of life. I felt the level of support midwife Talia provided was above standard care. She was beyond empathic and offered practical support during the long and very difficult night. She offered to help express the milk, offered to help feed, whilst mum was able to rest with Talia by her bedside assisting.
She was reassuring and normalising what was happening. Talia helped settled the baby and spent a good amount of time helping him so that mummy could get some much needed rest.
She supported us emotionally and if it wasn’t for her, mummy would’ve been an emotional wreck.
Cannot commend and thank her for her effort and support.
